<p>Dick Van Dyke's still got it. </p> <p>The TV and film legend was captured reenacting the iconic chimney sweep dance from the 1964 film <em>Mary Poppins, </em>just days before his 98th birthday. </p> <p>A behind-the-scenes clip of the<em> </em>actor filming his upcoming TV special <em>Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic</em>, was shared on Instagram by Christina Karlin with the caption: “Celebrating this legend today.”</p> <p>The actor looked dapper in a suit, as he playfully performed a jazz square from the iconic film, using a cane for balance. </p> <p>Just last month US network <em>CBS </em>announced that they would be releasing a two-hour show celebrating Van Dyke’s upcoming birthday in a special way by taking a look back at his career spanning over seven decades. </p> <p>The special “will travel back in time to the iconic set of The Dick Van Dyke Show and feature dazzling music and dance spectacles, heartfelt performances, special guests and a magical holiday number,” a press release from the network read. </p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; <p>Michael Caine has shared his top three tips for living a long, happy and healthy life. </p> <p>While promoting his new movie <em>The Great Escaper</em>, the 90-year-old Hollywood legend credited his nine decades of life to three things. </p> <p>He told the <em><a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-12540335/We-never-intimacy-coordinators-day-MICHAEL-CAINE-calls-woke-dull-says-young-man-national-service-truly-makes-man-reflects-acting-90.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a></em>, "Younger wives, no snacking and wear trainers at all times."</p> <p>Caine then quickly added, "And you have to be careful not to fall down."</p> <p>"Happens all the time. You have to just get up and carry on."</p> <p>Elsewhere in the candid interview, Caine explained how much the business of movie making has changed since his big break, discussing the relatively new phenomenon of having intimacy coordinators on set for love scenes. </p> <p>Asked about the coordinators, that are not found on most film and TV sets, Caine responded, “Really? Seriously? What are they? We never had that in my day.</p> <p>“Thank god I’m 90 and don’t play lovers anymore is all I can say. In my day you just did the love scene and got on with it without anyone interfering. It’s all changed.”</p> <p>Caine shared that his love of movies came after he served in the army, which he believes every able man should do to serve their country. </p> <p>The actor completed national service in the military himself, serving in Iserlohn, West Germany in the aftermath of World War II and seeing action in Korea.</p> <p>“I think every young man should be made to do it,” he said. “It truly makes a man of you.”</p> <p>He added: “I only became an actor after I left the army. Dick Van Dyke injured in car crash

<p>Dick Van Dyke has suffered "minor injuries" after being involved in a car crash in California. </p> <p>The 97-year-old actor's silver Lexus collided with a gate in Malibu on Wednesday, as police officers were called to the scene of the collision. </p> <p>A spokesman for the Malibu Police Department confirmed to CNN that Van Dyke had suffered "minor injuries" in the crash. </p> <p>Other reports claim the actor was bleeding from the nose and mouth after the incident, as he was reportedly treated by paramedics at the scene, but not taken to hospital.</p> <p>The crash comes just weeks after Van Dyke, who is preparing to celebrate his 98th birthday, became the oldest contestant to appear on <em>The Masked Singer</em>. </p> <p>On the show, Van Dyke performed Frank Sinatra's <em>When You're Smiling</em>, which his wife, Arlene Silver, helped him pick.</p> <p>"They wanted me to do something current and I know nothing from rock," Van Dyke told People at the time.</p> <p>"So we picked out one which typifies me. Olympic legend dies peacefully at age 76

<p>Dick Fosbury, the high jump gold medallist who completely changed the game with his “Fosbury Flop”, has passed away after a recurrence with lymphoma. He was 76.</p> <p>"It is with a very heavy heart I have to release the news that longtime friend and client Dick Fosbury @dickfosbury68 passed away peacefully in his sleep early Sunday morning after a short bout with a recurrence of lymphoma," his publicist, Ray Schulte, wrote.</p> <p>Before Fosbury, high jumpers cleared their height by running parallel to the bar, then leaping over with a scissor kick, with their faces pointed downward. At the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, he took off at an angle and leapt backwards, bending himself into a “J” shape to launch his six-foot-four frame over the bar.</p> <p>The leaping legend cleared 2.24 metres in Mexico City, winning gold and setting an Olympic record. By the 1972 Olympics, 28 out of the 40 jumpers were using Fosbury’s technique. Today it still stands as the most-used technique for elite jumpers worldwide.</p> <p>“The world legend is probably used too often,” sprint icon Michael Johnson tweeted. Dick van Dyke reveals the secret to feeling young at 98

<p>Dick Van Dyke has opened up about his secret weapon that helps him stay young as he prepares to celebrate his 98th birthday. </p> <p>The Hollywood legend spoke out about defying the ageing process in a recent interview with <em>Yahoo</em>, saying there are four key things that help him maintain his youthful vigour and zest for life. </p> <p>Firstly, he credited his good genes for helping him stay young later in life. </p> <p>Secondly, the actor said that his 51-year-old wife, Arlene Silver, was instrumental in helping him feel young.</p> <p>“Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me (helps),” the actor gushed over his spouse of 11 years.</p> <p>Van Dyke also added that a “positive attitude” was key to keeping healthy, stating, “I get that from my wife.”</p> <p>Lastly, he said exercise is important for people of any age, but particular those in their senior years, as he said he does whatever he can to keep moving. </p> <p>“I wrote a book called <em>Keep Moving</em>, I still go to the gym three days a week and work out,” he shared.</p> <p>“I advise everybody to do that, because that’s what ages people — it’s just a stiffening up and not exercising their muscles and their lungs,” he added. “Exercise is the answer.”</p> <p>Dick Van Dyke has previously spoken about his wife Arlene, whom he first met at the 2007 Screen Actors Guild Awards when he was 81 and she was 35.</p> <p>The pair initially became friends before their relationship turned romantic.</p> <p>“We share an attitude,” Van Dyke said cooingly of his wife. “She can go with the flow. Former swim coach Dick Caine arrested for alleged historical sexual abuse

<p dir="ltr"><em>Content warning: This article includes mentions of child sexual abuse (CSA).</em></p> <p dir="ltr">Former swimming coach Dick Caine has been arrested and charged over the sexual abuse of two teenagers he trained in the 1970s.</p> <p dir="ltr">Police arrested the 76-year-old at a home in Condell Park, in Sydney’s south-west, and took him to Bankstown Police Station on Wednesday morning, according to a <a href="https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/news/news_article?sq_content_src=%2BdXJsPWh0dHBzJTNBJTJGJTJGZWJpenByZC5wb2xpY2UubnN3Lmdvdi5hdSUyRm1lZGlhJTJGMTAxOTgzLmh0bWwmYWxsPTE%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> from NSW Police.</p> <p dir="ltr">He was charged with nine offences relating to the alleged abuse of two teenage students at a swim school in Carss Park, south of Sydney.</p> <p dir="ltr">After a woman reported to police that she was targeted while she was a student at the swim school, investigators under Strike Force Coco uncovered further allegations of another teenage girl being abused at the same swim school.</p> <p dir="ltr">Acting Superintendent Chris Nicholson said police will allege the victims were aged 16 and 17 at the time of the alleged offences, which he said took place “in a number of locations in and around the southern Sydney area”, per <em><a href="https://www.9news.com.au/national/dick-caine-former-swim-coach-arrested-on-allegations-sexual-abuse-teenage-female-athletes-in-1970s/c856a380-f722-4513-a4f1-d0fbd326b809" target="_blank" rel="noopener">9News</a></em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">The charges laid against Caine include six counts of carnal knowledge by a teacher of a girl aged 0-17, and three counts of indecent assault.</p> <p dir="ltr">Caine has been refused bail and is due to face Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday.</p> <p dir="ltr">Nicholson also praised the women who came forward for their “courage and bravery” and shared a message for other survivors.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I would like to say to all survivors of sexual abuse living in our community that the NSW Police Force wants to listen to your story,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“What today should show is that whether the NSW Police Force receives an allegation of sexual violence that occurred yesterday, or last week, or last year or 50 years ago, that we will investigate all matters that come to our attention with our full potential and we will wrap our full support around victim-survivors as they tell their story.”</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-4a138780-7fff-b32f-558f-302c88a98b3e"></span></p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image: TeamCaine.com.au</em></p>

Sir Michael Caine reveals the strange way he met his wife

<p>Love works in mysterious ways, even for Sir Michael Caine.</p> <p>The veteran actor has revealed how he met and fell in love with his wife of 46 years, Shakira, on Andrew Denton’s<span> </span><em>Interview</em><span> </span>show.</p> <p>The 86-year-old said, he was watching TV at home with a friend when a Maxwell House Coffee commercial came on screen. Caine was entranced by the woman in the ad, which was set in Brazil.</p> <p>“I had plenty of money. I said to my mate, ‘We’re going to Brazil tomorrow, I gotta find her’,” he recalled.</p> <p>Caine and his friend then went to a bar, where he shared his spur-of-the-moment plan with another patron.</p> <p>“I said, ‘Well, I was watching television, and I saw this girl in an advert, and I’m going to Brazil in the morning to find her,’” Caine told Denton.</p> <p>“He said, ‘Really? Dick Smith lashes out at Aldi: “When will enough be enough?”

<p>Aussie entrepreneur Dick Smith has slammed Aldi, calling out the German supermarket chain for sucking wealth from Australia.</p> <p>Mr Smith wrote an open letter to the discount retailer’s owners Karl Albrecht Jnr and Beate Heister, after Aldi was named the most trusted brand in Australia and our most profitable supermarket chain.</p> <p>Mentioning how Aldi is employing less staff per dollar turnover compared to Australian owned supermarkets, Mr Smith asked: “When will enough be enough?”</p> <p>In his letter, he asked if the owners have plans for “endless expansion” and continual price reductions.</p> <p>He wrote: “Will these goods, just like your peanut butter, come from countries like Argentina where wages are extremely low?</p> <p>“Won’t this mean our Australian farmers and food processors will never be able to compete with such low prices?</p> <p>“You are privately owned, so it is not possible for Australians to share in the wealth creation of your company, and you also don’t have the costs of publicly listing on the stock exchange which would result in the employment of many additional Australians.”</p> <p>Mr Smith highlighted how supermarkets such as Coles, Woolworths and IGA were predominantly Australian owned, with tens of thousands of Aussie shareholders.</p> <p>He said Aldi’s “phenomenal success” had taken away billions of dollars of business from existing Australian owned companies.</p> <p>Mr Smith recalled his conversation with Aldi’s chief executive in 2000, then Michael Kloeters, who revealed why Aldi was opening in Australia.</p> <p>Mr Smith said he was told: “Dick, in Germany if we don’t keep expanding we would be going backwards. Our plan is to expand throughout the world.”</p> <p>In his letter he also mentioned Australia’s unemployment rate, saying that less Aussies would be employed because of the German company.</p> <p>“We already have a problem in Australia,” he said.</p> <p>“We have 14 per cent youth unemployment and over 20 per cent youth underemployment — that is, where our young people can’t get a proper full time career.”</p> <p>He said the discount retailer was “basically sharing wealth less”.</p> <p>“Your father, who started the great expansion of the company, worked out that by having a lesser selection of products, you could therefore employ less workers,” he said in his open letter.</p> <p>“This would result in lower prices and higher profits.</p> <p>“This plan has worked incredibly well in Australia. So well that the larger Australian owned supermarkets are criticised by many, while your company is praised.</p> <p>“I have an important question to ask you. When will enough be enough?</p> <p><span style="font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit !important;">He also accused the brand of going against Australia’s tradition of openness and being secretive.</span></p> <p>“Can I ask why you are so secretive? Surely being worth $30 billion US dollars (that’s $40.63 billion Australian dollars) you have a responsibility to be open and explain your long term plans to all those who are affected.”</p> <p>Aldi Australia chief executive Tom Daunt responded to the letter, saying that the company employs more than 11,500 Australians and partners with more than 1000 Aussie suppliers.</p> <p>“We continually refine our exclusive brands together with our suppliers while supplementing these with other popular national brands,” Mr Daunt said.</p> <p>“As a privately owned business we have never sought to ‘maximise’ profits at the cost of something or someone else. Rather, we opt for long term sustainable growth strategies.</p> <p>“We are proud to have influenced the entire grocery sector, which has led to price deflation benefiting all Australian shoppers.</p> <p>“Our estimates suggest that we are saving Australians more than $1.5 billion per year.</p> <p>“This is money that is returned to the economy for bills, holidays, education and other vital expenses.”</p> <p>What are your thoughts? Dick Smith’s $1 million anti-immigration ad to divide the nation

Dick Van Dyke reveals the reason he got married on live radio

<p>Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke has opened up about the women in his life in a revealing interview with <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/aug/26/dick-van-dyke-in-therapy-i-realised-i-was-repeating-my-fathers-mistakes">The Guardian</a>.</strong></em></span></p> <p>Fans of the Mary Poppin star would remember the moment Van Dyke and his first wife exchanged vows on live radio. Millions of listeners tuned into her the marriage, and now he’s opened up about the reasons that led to that decision.</p> <p>"We were too broke to get married," Van Dyke simply said.</p> <p>He and Margie Willett had been together for a couple of years, when in 1948 a radio producer offered to pay for their wedding and honeymoon if they tied the knot on his show.</p> <p>"We exchanged our vows in front of a minister and two radio microphones while 15 million people listened!"
